OUR SERVICES
Since 1988, we’ve been working with architects and contractors to ensure that building projects remain on schedule and on budget. Taylor & Viola has designed thousands of building projects, renovations and ground-up designs.
Our collaborative approach to structural engineering services is to gather as much detailed information as we can at the onset of a project to capture the true essence of our clients’ vision and then apply the skills we've mastered in structural engineering and building design.
OUR STORY
Taylor and Viola was founded on January 1, 1988 by Joseph M. Taylor, PE. Mr. Taylor founded the company after 30 years in the private industry as a chief engineer. The company filled a void that was needed and grew in the Catawba Valley. On August 1, 1989, J. Kirk Viola, PE joined Mr. Taylor and Taylor and Viola, PC was formed. During the early years of the firm, it focused on quality design and drawings as well as on relationships with the client and staff. With this standard and model in place that currently still followed, the firm became an industry leader in the Catawba Valley and the surrounding areas.
James S. Tate, PE joined the firm on April 15, 1998 as a staff engineer and grew with the company until becoming Vice President in 2012 and the President and Managing Partner February 1, 2020. Under the leadership of Mr. Viola and Mr. Tate, the company continued to grow and become a significant regional firm. During this period of growth, a continued focus on quality design and drawings as well as a personal relationship with the client was emphasized.
During 2020, Jason M. Reep and Joshua J. Winchester both became Vice Presidents and Partners. They are allowing Taylor and Viola to continue to grow and give continuity to the company. In June of 2022, Taylor and Viola opened up their second full service office in Charlotte, North Carolina to better service their clients and to allow further growth in the industry. Mr. Winchester is the Manager of the Charlotte office and Mr. Reep is the Manager of the Hickory office.
Today, Taylor and Viola has two offices with numerous engineers and design staff. We focus on the needs of the client and are proud that the vast majority of our quality work is with repeat clients that we have a close relationship with. The firm services local, regional and national architects on a wide variety of projects with our engineers that are individually experienced in many different types of construction. The firm internally designs Post Tension Concrete, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Steel, Metal Stud Structures, and Wood Low and Mid-rise structures and utilizes all of the latest structural design software with the experience to develop drawings in AutoCAD or Revit and use BIM 360 as needed.
